Accountants prepare and close the books, produce statutory and management accounts, handle tax filings and support audit. In the region the recognised route is ACCA or CPA, often built on a degree from UWI, UTech or NCU, and part-qualified staff are commonly hired into assistant roles while studying. Practice firms, the banks and insurers, government agencies and the finance departments of every large trading company all recruit for it.
