Customs brokers clear goods through customs for importers - classification, valuation, entries and the queries that follow - and carry responsibility for getting the declaration right. Licensing by the national customs authority is required, along with training in tariff classification and the electronic entry systems. Brokerage firms, freight forwarders and the in-house clearing departments of large importers are the employers.
