Quantity surveyors price and control the cost of construction work - bills of quantities, tenders, valuations, variations and final accounts - and are usually the person arguing about what a change is worth. A quantity surveying degree with RICS or regional professional membership is the standard requirement. Consulting practices, contractors, developers, government works agencies and the larger hotel and infrastructure projects are the employers.
