Secretaries handle correspondence, minutes, filing and scheduling for a department or an officer, and in the public service the post sits on a graded scale with defined duties. CSEC passes with secretarial or office administration certification are the usual requirement, and typing and minute-taking are still tested. Government ministries and agencies, schools, hospitals, law firms and corporate offices are the employers.
