Social workers assess vulnerable people and families, arrange services and protection, and carry casework that involves courts, schools and health services. A social work degree from UWI or an accredited programme is the standard requirement, with registration expected in several regional jurisdictions. Government child protection and welfare agencies are the largest employers, alongside hospitals, schools, correctional services and non-governmental organisations.
