Teaching assistants support the class teacher - preparing materials, working with small groups and individual pupils, and supervising outside the classroom. CSEC passes with an early childhood or teaching assistant certificate are the usual requirement, often from HEART/NSTA Trust or a community college. Primary and early childhood institutions employ most of them, with special education settings a growing area of demand.
