Telecommunications engineers plan, install and maintain the transmission, radio and core network equipment that carries voice and data traffic. An engineering degree from UWI or UTech is the standard requirement, and registration as a professional engineer is expected for senior and consulting work. Mobile and fixed carriers, subsea cable and tower operators, equipment vendors and the regulators are the employers.
