Tellers handle deposits, withdrawals, transfers and foreign exchange at the counter, balancing their drawer at the end of each day and referring customers to other services. CSEC passes including mathematics and English are the usual entry requirement, and banks train on their own systems and compliance rules after hiring. Commercial banks, building societies and credit unions are the employers, and it is a common first post before moving into lending or operations.
